Complete Form W-9 (for U.S. talent)
Last updated: March 24, 2026
If you’re a U.S. person working with Lifted, you’ll need to submit Form W-9 so we can report your taxpayer information to the IRS and avoid unnecessary tax withholding. Here’s how to complete, update, and access your W-9 securely.
Who needs to complete Form W-9
You’ll need to fill out Form W-9 if you’re a U.S. citizen or resident alien or meet the substantial presence test. If you aren’t a U.S. person, please complete Form W-8BEN or W-8BEN-E instead.
You’ll be prompted to provide this information when you set up your payment details, but you can update it anytime in your account.
What you’ll need before you start
Make sure you have:
Your legal name (or your business name, if you’re filing as a company)
Your taxpayer identification number (SSN, EIN, or ITIN)
Your tax address

How to view your W-9
You can access your submitted W-9 anytime.
Go to Settings > Tax forms.
In the W-9 section, select View.
What happens if you don’t submit (or make a mistake)
If you don’t have a valid W-9 on file:
We’re required by the IRS to withhold federal income tax from your payments.
You won’t be able to withdraw funds until you complete your W-9.
If your taxpayer identification number (SSN, EIN, or ITIN) is missing or incorrect, we’ll notify you. Please correct and resubmit your W-9 within 15 days to avoid tax withholding.
How we use and protect your information
We use your W-9 details only to meet IRS requirements—such as issuing your 1099-K or responding to tax authorities. Your information is encrypted, protected, and stored securely for at least seven years. For full details, review our Privacy Policy in the Lifted Terms of Service.
