Managing and Submitting Timesheets
Last updated: June 15, 2026
If you're working on an hourly contract, you'll need to log your hours in a weekly timesheet to be paid.
Timesheets can be updated throughout the billing week and are automatically submitted for client review when the billing period ends.
How timesheets work
Timesheets are available for active hourly contracts.
A new timesheet is created for each billing week while your contract is active. You can enter and update hours throughout the billing week.
If a contract hasn't started yet, has ended, or is no longer active, you won't be able to update or submit a timesheet.
Payroll engagements follow a separate timesheet and payment process.
Updating Your Timesheet
You can update your timesheets from the Timesheets page or from within an active contract.
To update a timesheet:
Select Timesheets from the left navigation menu.
Open the timesheet you'd like to update.
Enter the hours you've worked for each day.
Click Save draft to save your progress.
Time must be entered in 15-minute increments.
You can update your timesheet as often as needed throughout the billing week.
Weekly deadlines
The standard billing week runs from Monday through Sunday.
For hourly contracts:
The billing period starts at 12:00 AM UTC each Monday.
The billing period ends at 11:59 PM UTC each Sunday.
Any hours entered before the billing period closes are included in that week's submission.
Billing periods are based on UTC rather than your local timezone. Depending on where you're located, your billing week may begin or end at a different local time.
Before the billing week ends
Before the billing period closes, make sure:
All hours worked for the week have been entered.
Your time entries are accurate.
Hours not entered before the billing period closes won't be included in that week's submission.
Weekly hour limits
If your hourly contract has a weekly limit, your timesheet cannot exceed the weekly hour limit defined in your contract.
After your timesheet is submitted
Once your timesheet is submitted, your client has 5 calendar days to review it. The review period runs from 12:00 AM UTC on Monday through 11:59 PM UTC on Friday.
During the review period, your client can:
Approve the timesheet
Return the timesheet for updates
If no action is taken during the review period, the timesheet is automatically approved.
If your timesheet is approved
Approved payments enter a 5-day security review period before funds become available.
For information about payment timelines, security review periods, and when funds become available, see How Payments Work for Hourly Contracts.
If your timesheet is returned
If your client returns the timesheet, you'll be able to review, update, and resubmit it.
After resubmission, a new 5-day review period begins.
